This is a document that outlines some assembly and mental health themes across the year. It includes important topics to cover as well as a few religious festivals and a mental health theme for each week starting September 2021-July 2022. It is for HOY and the pastoral teams to plan the assemblies and tutor time activities. So if you just need a mental health theme or assembly theme for the year you can download this and get it all done for you! This is for KS3-KS5 assemblies (Ages 11-18) but can be used for other year groups too. This does not include assemblies but there are plenty to purchase in my TES shop. I have added a version 2 because we have changed them slightly throughout the first term.

This PPoint outlines the news stories that have occured since schools in the UK broke up for the Summer (end of July & August 2021). It has a downloaded inspiring video about the Olympics and is an interactive PowerPoint which requires questioning and discussion of various issues including the relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions. It also finishes with a true and false quiz to test their learning. This will be a session I share with my KS3, KS4 & KS5 (11-18) for their second PSHE tutor time session of the year (the first one being the introduction to PSHE which you can also find in my shop). This is a 10-15 minute session ideal for tutor time or an assembly for the first few weeks back in September 2021. Please leave a quick review.

This lesson pack is a fully resourced Ofsted ready lesson about different Christian beliefs about fertility treatment and the main different methods that exist. It includes a carousel activity so students can find out about the different methods themselves with information cards, a chart worksheet to complete, differentiated questions, a match up starter activity, a full lesson plan and powerpoint focusing on exam skills and extra knowledge. This was originally a KS4 lesson produced for an Ofsted visit and it was graded outstanding and well received with the students. This can also be adapted to be used as a standalone resource for Fertility Treatment as part of PSHE or RSE & Health Education. Purchase this pack and you have everything you need ready for an observed lesson.

This is a 15 minute end of year assembly which could last up to 30 minutes. You can use the script if you need to narrate the PowerPoint or deliver it in-person. This assembly has some videos of hope embedded, some key points of the year, how to stay safe this summer and prepare for the upcoming year. This was originally a 15 minute assembly to Year 10 but can be used for any years from 7-13 (Ages 11-18). You can add some rewards on the end specific to your group or use just this to save yourself some time at the end of the year.

This session is planned to last around 15 minutes as a short introduction for younger Secondary School pupils or older primary school (e.g. Year, 5-8 Ages 9-13). It includes a downloaded video, a short quiz and some important information all children need to know as they start or go through puberty. It has a thinking task and ground rules and can be lengthened to last a whole lesson if needed.

This is a 15 minute session on the importance of understanding the influence adverts have on us and explains subliminal messages etc. It links to the RSE & Health Curriculum as well as the wider PSHE and Citizenship curriculum and it is suitable for KS3 -KS5 (Years 7-13 Ages 11-18) but was originally planned as a PSHE tutor time session for Year 9. It contains downloaded videos, information, discussion questions and a plenary quiz.

This is a different session that my other ‘Positivity’ session. It is suitable for KS3-KS4 (Years 7-11, Ages 11-16) for a 15 minute assembly, tutor time or PSHE session. It can also be lengthened easily to make a whole lesson. It includes why we need to and how we can remain positive, information, downloaded videos and a plenary quiz and some questions to finish. This is linked to the new RSE and Health Curriculum and the general PSHE curriculum but it can be used as a tutor time session or an assembly.

This is a 10-15 minute presentation about prescription drugs. It covers definitions, types, uses, symptoms and the importance of knowing about them. It links to the new RSE & Health Curriculum for Secondary Schools and can be used for KS3, KS4 or KS5 (Ages 11-18 Year 7-13). It contains downloaded videos, discussion activities, sources of support for pupils and a quiz and reflection question as a plenary. It could easily be lengthened for a whole PSHE lesson if required.

This session is a 10-15 minute PSHE session that can be used as an assembly or as a tutor time whole school pastoral focus. It outlines definitions, issues that arise and how stem cells are donated. This has two downloaded short videos and partly focuses on the issue of saviour siblings. It includes discussion activities, information and a plenary quiz. There are no written activities but this can be easily lengthened for a whole PSHE lesson. This is suitable for KS3 - KS5 students (Years 7-13, Ages 11) and links to the new RSE and Health Curriculum.

This is a 10-15 minute tutor time PSHE session or assembly on healthy living. It covers what a healthy diet is and what an unhealthy diet it. It has some interactive anagrams, discussion activities and three downloaded video clips that will never disappear! It was originally a tutor time PSHE session for Year 7 but can be used for any year group at KS2 - KS4 (Years 5-11 Ages 9-16) and is suitable to be used as an assembly or whole school session.

This is a 10-15 minute tutor time session for PSHE which covers the definitions and an introduction to Prevent, Extremism, Radicalisation and Terrorism. It was originally for a Year 7 PSHE session for tutor time but is suitable for all of KS3 and KS4 and can be used as an introduction lesson to my other Extremism assembly resource which goes into more detail. This resource has two downloaded video clips so they will never disappear and contains discussion activities and no written activities. This is a great introduction to the terms used in PSHE or Citizenship for Extremism.

This is a 15 minute assembly or tutor time PSHE session about privilege in society. This was originally a tutor time session for PSHE but the extension tasks and videos can be used to make a whole lesson for Citizenship or PSHE. It covers which groups in UK society are privileged, two downloaded video clips that will never disappear, definitions and ways to not let privilege define our lives. It also includes two extension downloaded video clips that could be used to make it long enough for a whole lesson. This fits in with the new RSHE and PSHE curriculum and was very successful when used at school. It is suitable for KS3, KS4 & KS5, Ages 11-18, Years 7-13.

This is a 15 minute tutor time session or assembly covering the mental health issue of clinical depression. It was originally a Yr 10 PSHE session for tutor time but can be used for all of KS3-KS5, Ages 11-18, Years 7-13. It contains strategies to cope, definitions, a slide of support groups to help students and some discussion activities. It contains a downloaded video clip so it will never disappear. This fits in with the new RSHE curriculum, Keeping Children Safe in Education and the PSHE curriculum.

This is a 15 minute tutor time PSHE session about families. It is suitable for KS2-KS4 (Ages 8-16, Years 4 - 11, Grades 4-10) and can easily be lengthened to last a whole lesson. It fits in to the PSHE curriculum and the new RSE and Health Curriculum. It covers: Definitions of the word ‘family’ How families have changed over the years Different types of families Thinking and discussion tasks True and False Quiz to check learning and understanding 2 downloaded videos about types of families that will never disappear. This session was originally used as a Year 7 (11 years old) PSHE tutor time session and was received very well by over 400 students.

This is a 10-20 minute assembly on the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham 2022. It is specifically about this year’s commonwealth games and focuses on how it will change and has changed the city of Birmingham. It is suitable for KS3-KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13, Grades 6-12) as an assembly or tutor time session. It has no written activities just discussion tasks but this can easily be changed to make it last a whole lesson. It includes: Information about the Commonwealth Games What the Commonwealth is How has it affected the people of Birmingham Advantages and disadvantages of the Games How the city will be tranformed A debate about whether it is positive for the city How it connects to Fundamental British Values How it connects to the UN Rights of a Child Reflection and links for students to look at later and links to other news stories Pictures, logos, dual coding throughout 2 downloaded videos that will never disappear Students received this session well and it was originally a whole school resource for a tutor time Citizenship session. It is narrated but this can easily be changed by deleting the icon on each slide if you would prefer it not narrated.

This is a 15 minute presentation about blood donation to encourage students to think about donating when they are older and the current need for blood in the NHS. It covers statistics, quotes from donors and their recipients as well as reasons why blood donation is important. It has two short video clips that engage the students well in learning about this important health issue and are downloaded so they will never disappear! There are discussion questions but no written tasks as this is meant for a quick overview in tutor time or similar. It can be shortened or lengthened according to the length of the session. This covers the new RSE and Health Curriculum statutory guidance and can be used in PSHE or Citizenship lessons as well. This is suitable for KS3, KS4, KS5 and possibly KS2. Ages 9-18.
